Ban Chiang Period, 15th-9th century BC. A ceramic jar with bulbous body and rolled rim, decoration of multilinear painted bands and whorls. 2.3 kg, 23cm (9"). Property of a Cambridgeshire lady; formerly in the Igor Karmiloff collection (1925-2016), UN economist and author of Flashbacks, Icons of Impermanence, Bloomington, 2009; acquired in the 1950s-early 1990s; accompanied by an original invoice from Galerie Koller, Zurich, Switzerland, dated 16 August 1981.
