2rd-3rd century AD. A carved schist nimbate Buddha seated in a full lotus position on a dais with fire altar to the front, wearing a voluminous robe draped across his left shoulder, serene expression with hooded eyes, hair swept around the ushnisha; mounted on a custom-made perspex stand. 3.8 kg total, 29.5cm with stand (11 1/2"). Property of a North West London gallery; formerly in a 1980s collection.
