A fragment of a carved schist frieze depicting a standing robed Buddha beneath a hatched canopy flanked by attendants and kneeling worshippers, soldier with sword at this hip and supplicant bowed figure with forehead to the ground; mounted on a custom-made stand. See Jongeward, D. Buddhist Art of Gandhara in the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford, 2018. 3.5 kg total, 27.2cm with stand (10 3/4"). Property of a North London gentleman; ex private London collection, acquired 1980-1990s.
