9th-10th century AD. A three strand necklace string composed of seven silver pendants comprising: two heart-shaped ones with openwork filigree domes surrounded by ropework, inlaid turquoise cabochon to the top of the pendant; four rectangular with ropework borders, background with inlaid silver knobs and filigree decoration, two openwork domes to the ends and central inlaid turquoise cabochon, all surrounded by fine ropework border; central pendant with ropework border, background filled with filigree scrolls, three openwork domes to the centre, five silver scrolls to the top of the pendant and five breloques with blue composition beads below; strings composed of later pearls and blue composition beads, the ends of alternating carnelian and composition beads. 40 grams total, 52cm (20 1/2"). The Signo collection, the property of a West London businessman, formed in the late 1980s-early 1990s.
